MBCC at a Glance
1. Social Awareness: - Our church leaders constantly campaign against de-addiction from opium, wine, and drugs in our society. The churches under MBCC are constantly active in eradication of addiction in our society. We constantly campaign against such addiction through preaching and teaching in the churches and in daily life. One of the topics during the MBCC General conference was “Biblical Perspective on Addiction” (Luke 21:34). The result may not be instant but we notice the progress of such steps.
2. Education: - Lohit English School at Hucheliang, Mount Gerizim School in the Mission Compoun, Girls Hostel are some steps through which MBCC wants to bring good education to our society. We provide good education at a very cheap charge. Every church has Sunday schools through which children are given social, spiritual, moral and educational teachings.
3. Healing: - Every individual need spiritual and physical healing in life. MBCC is unable to start hospital for the physical healing of people. Nevertheless, in a small way, we have started a Prayer Centre at Changliang, where people get both physical and spiritual healing. The centre is for every one irrespective of religion, caste, denomination etc.
4. Preservation of Art and Literature: - MBCC in partnership with Wycliffe India have been striving towards the preservation of Art and Literature of Mishmis. We have formulated a script with the use of Roman alphabet and phonetics. We have already released few stories, calendars, and parts of Bible in both Kaman and Tawrah language. We are working on preservation of Mishmi oral stories. We encourage our women folk to preserve the art of weaving. By way of encouragement, in every occasion we buy dresses from them.
5. Relief: - We encourage the churches to spare few amounts from the church account for relief work. The churches and the council office always try to give small relief to people who suffer lost due to natural calamities. It may not be in a big way but a small we present our gesture of love and concern to others.
6. Spiritual: - There is a profound saying that, “a person with sound spirituality lives a sound life.” MBCC strives towards the development of every individual towards sound spirituality. We teach and preach about morality, spirituality, social behaviours, etc basing on the teachings of the Bible.

History of Mishmi Baptist Church Council
The Mishmis are one of the major tribes of Arunachal Pradesh who are settled in Lohit and Anjaw districts. They are the indigenous group of people who believe in spirits and sacrifices. In today’s context, Hinduism is influencing the Mishmis and is trying to indoctrinate Hinduism into Mishmi. Hindus consider the Mishmi religion as part of Hinduism. They compare Brahma with Matai, Shiva with Shyuto and Vishnu with Amik and Buroo. Nature worship is also compared with Hinduism. However, many Mishmis do not believe in this amalgamation of Hinduism and the Mishmi indigenous religion.
HISTORY
In the year 1837, the American Baptist Mission started its ministry at Sadiya, Assam to reach out to the Khamti, Singpho, Adi and Mishmi. However, due to British and Khamti conflict, the Mission was shifted to another place called Jaipur, Assam.
In the second phase, two French missionaries namely Father Nicholas Michael Krick and Augustine Boury entered into the Mishmi land and tried to reach out to the Mishmis while on their way to Lasha, Tibet. However, one Mishmi by the name Kahesha Manyu killed them.
In the third phase, in 1900, Arthington Voluntary Mission was established at Sadiya to work among the Adis and the Mishmis. Dr. and Mrs. H. W Kirby the American Baptist Missionaries were appointed to work among these two tribes. However, these two tribes rejected the mission.
In the fourth phase in the year 1937, the Mizo Christian Association sent three missionaries viz. Lalthanga, Zoramthang and Sanga to work among the Mishmis. However, the Government of Frontier (Arunachal Government) did not permit this mission to enter the land.
It took 126 years for the gospel to penetrate in the Mishmi land and ultimately leading to the establishment of different churches. On 29th November 1963, first Church was established at the Mishmi land at Tezu with the initiative of few government servants from different communities such as Naga, Mizo, Khasi, and other tribes of Arunachal Pradesh
