              CHURCH GROWTH

The growth of the Church was very slow until the year 1993. In the month of June 1993, few Mishmi Christians were brutally persecuted and were chased from their villages to the town. Churches were burnt down and the houses were demolished. However, after three months they were allowed to enter their villages. Starting from that year, people have noticed the fast growth of churches in the Mishmi land. Presently, there are five different denominations working in the Mishmi land.

 SCOPE OF MINISTRY:

The Mishmi land is divided into two districts viz. Lohit and Anjaw districts. Lohit district has four circles with about twenty five thousand (Approx.) populations excluding the non-Mishmis. Anjaw district has five circles with twenty two thousand (Approx.) populations. Most of the villages in Lohit district have been reached with the gospel of Christ. There are different churches witnessing the gospel in the different villages of Lohit district.

However, there is no any church (building) in Anjaw district. In the past few years, Anjaw has witnessed the demolition of six church buildings situated at different places. Nevertheless, there are few house fellowships established at Anjaw district. We still have many miles to go with the gospel in Anjaw districts and beyond where our people live. Many villages do not even know about Christian religion as such. We have very few missionaries and evangelist trying to penetrate this district with the gospel.

Baptist is the pioneer and the largest group in the Mismi land. Out of 40-45 Thousand Mishmis, we have only 1500 (approx.) Baptized members. Therefore, it is my humble request before all the Saints of Christ to pray for our people.
